It's a long story. The Cliff Notes version is that I got a divorce, and meeting girls in bars wasn't really my thing. I talked to a couple friends who had been dabbling in the online dating world.
From everything I heard, it sounded like a place where my strengths (writing, humor, reasonable looks) could outweigh my one HUGE weakness when it comes to meeting a prospective date; extreme shyness.
So I went to a couple popular (and, more importantly, FREE) dating websites, spent some time setting up my profile and throwing in some pictures, and let nature, 2011-style, take its course.
